Narendra Modi is a “magician” who can make democracy “disappear”, says Rahul Gandhi

Congress President Rahul Gandhi, in a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that the PM is a “great magician” who can make democracy “disappear”.

Rahul Gandhi is currently touring Meghalaya, where an assembly poll for 60 seats will be held on 27 February. While addressing an election rally at Jowai in Meghalaya, Rahul Gandhi said, “The Prime Minister is living up to this wonderful image of a great magician who can make things appear and disappear at the snap of a finger. He has made many things appear and disappear effortlessly. Scamsters like Vijay Mallya, Lalit Modi, and Nirav Modi magically disappeared from India and reappeared in foreign lands out of the reach of Indian law. Modiji’s magic can even make democracy disappear from India very soon.”

Rahul Gandhi also took a swipe at Narendra Modi claiming that the latter had failed in fulfilling the promises he had made back in 2014. He said that the Prime Minister has fallen short of producing jobs and providing fair prices to farmers for their produce.

The Congress president slammed the centre for its inability to “remove” corruption from the country. He also claimed that by not being able to restrict fraudsters from fleeing away from the country, the government has played an “active role” in corruption.

Earlier, while commenting on the Nirav Modi case, Rahul Gandi attacked Narendra Modi by saying, “Narendra Modi is not against corruption. He is an instrument of corruption.”

Meghalaya is one of the states in the country which is being ruled by Congress party. After being in power for three consecutive terms, Congress party has pinned its hopes on Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to come out trumps for the fourth consecutive time.

On the other hand, BJP too, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, is leaving no stone unturned in its campaigning in the state.
