One of India’s best badminton players, PV Sindhu, has stormed into the finals at the Asian Games by defeating the world no 2 Akane Yamaguchi with 21-17, 15-21, 21-10.

The 23-year-old has become the first Indian to reach the finals of an individual event at the Asian Games and would be facing the world no 1 Tai Tzu Ying in the finals on 28 August. Earlier, another ace player from India, Saina Nehwal

, bagged a bronze medal after losing to Tai Tzu Ying with 17-21, 14-21 in the semi-finals.

The two Olympic medalists from India have headed to the semifinals while it was Saina Nehwal who bagged the bronze medal ending the 36-year-old wait for an individual medal. This is also the first time that Indian women shuttlers are assured of a medal in Asian Games and fingers cross, anticipating a gold from Sindhu in the finals.
