Vizag goes ‘Pika Pika’ as Detective Pikachu hits the screens

One of the much-awaited Hollywood movies this year, Pokemon Detective Pikachu has hit the screens today. Everyone is excited to see their favourite yellow fluffy character Pikachu, which dons a slightly newer avatar, as compared to its original one in the popular anime show. In the film, our favourite pokemon uses his investigating skills to help 21-year-old Tim find his father who goes missing under mysterious circumstances. The special feature in this movie is that Pikachu’s vocabulary is not confined to ‘Pika Pika’ and ‘Pikachu’. Interestingly, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has done the voice over for Pikachu in the film. The excitement over Detective Pikachu seems to have caught up in Vizag as well. Despite having limited shows in the city, more than half the tickets have already been sold out across the theatres in Vizag.

Calling it “nostalgic experience”, numerous fans across the globe have taken to social media to express their love for the pocket monsters. Here is what a few of the fans had to say about this film on Twitter:

“Welp. wrecked me. I felt like I was 9 years old, getting my first Pokémon card (Machop) and starting Pokémon Blue on my brand new turquoise Game Boy. The story isn’t any Casablanca, but it’s so incredibly wholesome and feel-good that I didn’t care,” tweeted Blaine Gibson.

While a fan shared that film made her emotional and would like to see it in theatres again, another user went gaga over Pikachu’s “cute” dance moves to a song. “Was also very nice, it was amazing getting to see the world of Pokemon fully realized in live action. Pikachu and Psyduck were my favorites,” tweeted another moviegoer.
