Union Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal, has responded over the issue of railway zone in Andhra Pradesh and its headquarters in Vizag.
The Minister said that the AP Reorganisation Act does not hold anything about the establishment of a new zone, headquartered in Vizag, but only refers to the study about necessities of such a zone.
He mentioned that the issue is still in discussion among the railway ministery and even he is studying about the status. Mr Goyle said to the media in Delhi, ” I ask the ones who are demanding special railway zone to study the AP Reorganisation Act. The act does not say to establish a railway zone but only asks to study the feasibility.”
He also said that he has spoken about the issue in the Parliament too.
Earlier, BJP Member of Parliament, K. Haribabu, has said that a new zone with headquarters in Vizag would soon be announced officially.
The words of the politicians have been provoking a state of confusion among the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Agitations at some places in AP have been going on regarding special category status and railway zone.
