Pawan Kalyan sends letter of appeal to Prime Minister to stop privatisation of Dredging Corporation of India, Visakhapatnam

Actor and Jana Sena Party (JSP) founder, Mr. Pawan Kalyan extended his support to the employees of Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. The JSP chief joined the employees in their fight to stop privatisation of Dredging Corporation of India (DCI). Pawan has also written a letter of appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to intervene in the matter and help the employees’ cause.

The letter was shared on Jana Sena Party’s official social media accounts.

Pawan Kalyan also consoled the family of N Venkatesh who recently committed suicide owing to the uncertainty of his job at DCI. The agitation by the employees was intensified after Venkatesh’s suicide.

While speaking at the meeting in Visakhapatnam, Pawan questioned the government’s move to privatise Dredging Corporation of India. He said the government’s move could have been justified if the corporation was running at a loss but the fact that the officials have decided to privatise DCI despite the profits being made, is objectionable.

He added that DCI is a world-renowned corporation and the state and central governments must take the necessary steps in order to resolve the issue.

In fact, the JSP chief also invited YSRCP chief Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy and leaders of other parties to join him in order to ensure that the matter is addressed.

Usha Rani, joint manager (law), Dredging Corporation of India, was quoted by The Business Line as saying, “a profit-making company ever since it was set up in 1976. Privatisation of DCI will be a national loss, as we undertake dredging works with a low margin. The move should be revoked.”
