New IoT Center for Excellence to boost Start Up trend in Vizag

A brand new Center for Excellence for IoT, Internet of Things is to be set up to boost start up in Vizag. This move is initiated by the Central Government and the state government received word about this on Friday. Vizag along with three other places in India have been sanctioned the IoT Centers for Excellence. These are Gurugram, Haryana, Ahmedabad in Gujurat and Vizag in Andhra Pradesh. The financial outlay of the plan is 22.65 crores. This amount of 10.78 crores will be disbursed for phase wise implementation over a period of 5 years. This amount will be given by the Ministry of Electronics and IT.  The rest of the amount will be put up by the State Government. NASSCOM, National Association of Software and Service Companies will be the implementing agency.

Objective: The objective behind this IoT center of Excellence is to ready an infrastructure for start up businesses to flourish in the city. An infrastructure for labs for IoT and solutions for designing, prototyping and innovation is to be created. Domestic needs will be addressed to target key sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, water management, energy etc. This will ultimately be a step forward for the development of Smart City. For this start up boost and technology infrastructure has to be ready.

Highlights of the IoT Center for Excellence:

Incubation center for start up businesses to develop ideas.

Training for industry.

Equipment backed technology solution for start up development.

Targets for the Centers are the three projects in one year, 50 centers in 2 years and 100 in three years.
