Narendra Modi’s Niece Passes Away

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s younger brother’s daughter, Nikunjaben Modi (41 years), passed away on Tuesday in Ahmedabad. She was suffering from a prolonged heart illness. She used to take tuitions for school students and also weaved clothes from home. Her husband, Jagdishbhai, works for a private company and they have a 12 year old son together. Narendra Modi has a younger brother Prahladbhai Modi, who is the president of All-India Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Federation and runs a fair price shop in Gujarat.

The Prime Minister is in Laos at the moment where there will be a bilateral meeting with US President Barack Obama, making it the eighth meeting between Modi and Obama in the last two years.  The meeting will be held today on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summitt in Vientiane, Laos.

Narendra Modi today hit out strongly against Pakistan saying, “There is one country in our neighbourhood whose competitive advantage rests solely in producing and exporting terrorism. This export (of terrorism) is reducing space for peace and increasing the space for violence. It is putting at risk peace and prosperity of all. We need to target not only the terrorists but also their entire supporting ecosystem. Our strongest action should be reserved for those state actors who employ terrorism as an instrument of state policy. Terrorism is the most serious challenge to open and pluralistic societies; combating it requires collective effort.

He had also spoken out against Pakistan on Monday at the G20 Summitt, urging leaders of the world to isolate the “one single nation in South Asia” that keeps spreading “agents of terror”. “We expect the international community to speak and act in unity, and to respond with urgency to fight this menace. Those who sponsor and support terrorism must be isolated and sanctioned, not rewarded. For us a terrorist is a terrorist,” he said in yet another speech.
