The New Year is expected to take off on a spirited note for the state’s BJP cadre as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Andhra Pradesh on 6 January.
In what is being considered as BJP’s launching platform for the 2019 Assembly elections in the state, the PM will address a public gathering at the Bible Mission Grounds in Guntur.
The gathering will also mark Narendra Modi’s first participation in a public gathering in Andhra Pradesh post the ruling TDP ended its ties with BJP. The gathering is expected to witness the Prime Minister spearhead the party’s attack on TDP as it plans to ‘expose’ the state government’s flaws.
“Chandrababu Naidu has been raking up the issues of denial of Special Category Status to AP and non-implementation of provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act, apart from levelling allegations of witch-hunt by the Centre through CBI, ED and I-T against TDP leaders. We want to give a befitting reply to all the allegations and accusations against the Centre,’’ a BJP leader was quoted
as saying by The New Indian Express. On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu came out all guns blazing as slammed Narendra Modi for not fulfilling the promises made to the state.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Naidu attacked the Prime Minister for not granting special status to Andhra Pradesh. Adding that the centre feared that Andhra would cross Gujarat in development, the Chief Minister demanded justice to the state before Modi comes and addresses the people here.
