Politicians’ murders likely to affect Araku tourist footfall

With the brutal killing of two politicians in Araku by the Maoists on Sunday, the tourism at the Vizag Agency is likely to have bad effects.

The Tourism officials mentioned that there could be a decline of the footfall in the agency and mainly at Araku Valley and Dumbriguda Mandal( the place where the incident took place).

As per the officials, one of the main reasons is the ferocity of the agitators who burnt down two police stations. The MLA supporters have also destroyed furniture and the vehicles on the roads. Followed by this, the agency was under bandh and rallies for a couple of days.

Keeping such violent conditions in mind, the police are checking vehicles at many places. Most of the tour plans for Araku Valley booked under Vizag tour operators were cancelled.

Located in Vizag district in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, Araku Valley is climbing the popularity charts as a tourist destination over the years. It is surrounded by the Eastern Ghats, which is a mesmerizing mix of lush green valleys and hills, with dense forests enhancing its magic. It is blessed with a wonderful climate since it is at an altitude of 3000 feet above sea level. The enchanting aroma in the air is a result of the expansive coffee plantations the valley boasts of.
