Mumbai news shows horrific aftermath of the downpour on the City.

Mumbai news reports the worst flood situation since 2005. Crippled by torrential rains and alarming high tides, the financial capital came to a still. This is the worst rains in 12 years and the public services and enterprises have come to a shut down. The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis advised citizens in a tweet last night to stay home unless there is an emergency. The rains have flooded several parts of Mumbai and train services are halted. Commuters are stranded and common people are seen wading through water. The railway tracks are knee deep in water.

The weather officials are forecasting continuous downpour over the next 24 hours. 9 times the average rainfall has thrashed the city. Mumbai news updates show offices and schools shut down. The famous Dabbawalas have suspended delivery today. Yesterday rendered collecting tiffin boxes impossible. The people of the city are marking themselves safe and inviting stranded people to come over. Helpline numbers have been circulated.

From Vizag, people whose loved ones are in Mumbai are concerned. The rains have abated but 5 lives are already lost. Near catastrophic event have been controlled.

  • The Indian Navy and 6 teams of National Disaster Response Force have been launched. Other teams are on standby.
  • Local train services have resumed in the wee hours of last night.
  • Flight operations which were suspended are slowly resuming.
  • The roads are empty and stranded people are still left out at may places.
  • Samaritans across the city are opening doors for those in need.
  • Social media is helping tremendously by establish help and outreach, circulating helplines etc.
  • Social service organisation, Indian Navy etc are helping out with food to those who are rendered homeless, stranded or in difficulty.
