The good old Melody Cinema has been revamped and is back in a whole new and almost unrecognisable avatar.
Stepping into the theatre, one expects to be invited into a regular old auditorium despite the recent renovation. But Melody Cinema’s chic new look is a pleasant surprise. A huge screen stands opposing rows of blue push-back seats embossed with a single red ‘M’. Luminous streaks ignite the room, accentuating its gigantic size. Speakers stand at regular spacing on the walls and even the ceilings. This set-up is what sets Melody apart from the rest of the theatres. Even the steps are lit up with blue light that declare the row and seat numbers and the name of the theatre – Melody Cinema.
This theatre holds 774 seats that would give stiff competition to any other multiplex’s capacity and are positioned such that the person sitting behind, irrespective of their height, would not have a problem viewing the screen. Melody Cinema comes with a Dolby Atmos sound system, armed with 54 audio channels put in place by sound engineers from Chennai. While not a full Atmos, the sound system is still a novel one to our city. Allowing a movie-goer to experience sound effects at 360 degrees, the affair of going to the movies itself will now be an upgraded one. Depending on the screen size, the format accommodates up-to 64 speakers. The Christie projector is 4K enabled, making the best of the full screen size the theatre provides.
The projection and sound standards of Melody Cinema make it a befitting counterpart to IMAX. So if you’re tired of the picture size getting resized at other theatres and multiplexes, head to Melody instead.
