Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) Chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati, along with Jana Sena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan, addressed a press gathering in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
Stating that several parties had failed in keeping their promises and couldn’t develop Andhra Pradesh, Mayawati said that JSP, BSP, CPI, and CPI(M), will win the upcoming polls in the state and predicted Pawan Kalyan as the next Chief Minister of AP. Mayawati, while addressing the conference in Visakhapatnam, further promised to grant the coveted Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
The BSP leader is on a two-day visit to the state to campaign for the coalition of Jana Sena Party, BSP, and the left parties. It may be noted that BSP will be contesting from 3 Lok Sabha and 21 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, as part of their seat-sharing with Jana Sena Party, CPI and CPI(M).
Speaking briefly on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan said that the association was initiated 10 years ago. Stating that he wanted to see Mayawati as the Prime Minister of India, Kalyan shared that her experience and administrative calibre should guide the country. The JSP Chief further added that he would make sure to garner sufficient support from the Telugu states to achieve the same.
Andhra Pradesh is slated to go to Assembly and Lok Sabha polls on 11 April.
