Maoist vandalize JCBs for Optical Fibre Cable Laying in Vizag agency

Maoist vandalism makes news again. A latest incident of torching  four JCBs brings to light their work in the Vizag agency. This incident occured near Nurmathi area under G.Madugula police station limits. According to reports, the incident took place between 10.40 pm and 11.10 pm on Thursday night when around 10 ultras reached the Nurmathi and Vakapalli areas and torched the machines. These machines were being used for fiber optic cable laying in Vizag agency.

Not only were the vehicles torched, the operators of the JCBs were badly beaten up. The Maoist then proceeded to douse petrol over the vehicles and set them alight. Their actions were preceeded by threatening warnings. their argument against the development work is that it does not benefit the tribal in anyway. The protest and warning prove this to be their point. They did not leave any evidence in the form of posters or pamphlets.

The Maoist warnings were directed at the contractor who has taken up the work. Punishment and retribution was threatened if warnings were not adhered to. The locals were aware of these warnings and police in Vizag agency are investigating. The efforts of the Maoist at blocking development in Vizag is not finding appreciation among the locals.
