Man attempts suicide by setting himself ablaze in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh

Man from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh attempt suicide by setting himself ablaze on the city streets.

Identified as M Mahalaksmi Naidu, the alleged person set himself ablaze on the city streets in an effort to commit suicide. The said person was accused for killing his wife and has been booked for the same. He chose to commit suicide openly on the streets in full public view in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This occurred at 10 a.m in Pendurthi area of Visakhapatnam. The man came out, doused himself with petrol and set himself on fire. Not only was the incident witnessed by bystanders, it was also captured by CCTV cameras.

As the incident unfolded, the man ran screaming but passerby and motorists did not come forward to help. This was informed by Pendurthi Police Station inspector J Murali and reported by Hindustan Times. The person was rushed to a hospital in Visakhapatnam and his condition is reportedly critical. He has suffered 65% burns and is undergoing treatment.

The man has been charged for the murder of his wife, committed in anger and was arrested in 2016. He was out of jail on conditional bail. The motive behind the suicide attempt seems to be a take over attempt by his brothers-in-law on a piece of land. These are claims made by relatives. It was this that drove the man to try and take his life. The attempt made on the streets of the Port City of Andhra Pradesh comes as a shocker because of the extremity of the step.
