Due to the ongoing lorry union strike nationwide, the industrial sector is facing a huge loss across the country. The strike has put a break for the transport of various exports and imports in Visakhapatnam.

Around 300 lorries of steel are exported from Steel Plant in the city. Each lorry carries around 22 Tonnes of steel. Due to the strike, the steel is only being exported by railways.
Various units of Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone are also facing the side effects of the strike. The import of limestone and pharma chemicals to the industrial sector has come to halt. Foreign Chocolates, diamonds and parts of the trains which have to be imported have also stopped temporarily.
The import of sand and cement into the city has become tough due to the excess rains in Srikakulam and East Godavari. Now, adding to this, the surge has put a permanent halt to the import. 100 lorries import sand and cement to the city on a daily basis which is now on a stoppage.
