Advance Booking..Of A Different Kind

The forthcoming Krishna Pushkarams have created a different sort of “box-office” type news. More than 3.5 lakh bottles of holy water of Krishna river have been booked in advance in Post Offices across the State. Online bookings are also available for both domestic and international devotees and charges will vary according to the Speed Post charges.

According to Mr. K.V.L.N. Murty, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices (Visakhapatnam division) the advance bookings for the river water started on July 26. Entire Vizag region was given a target of 1,00,000 bottle sales and bookings have crossed the 80,000 bottles mark as on the last date. At present, the official closing date for the bookings has gone by, but a report to the Vijayawada division has been sent requesting for an extension.

The over the counter sales are also being planned meticulously . “Bottles will be available at post offices from Aug 13 between 10 am to 5 pm. Each bottle costs Rs.30 which will contain 500 ml of the holy water and they will be sold on first-come-first-serve basis.” Mr. Murty added.

Sometimes a furor like this just goes to show the “rush” that a belief can create.
