South Korean giant Kia Motors to invest a whopping sum in Andhra Pradesh

South Korean automobile giant Kia Motors on Thursday said that it would be investing a raised amount of whopping $2 billion in the company’s upcoming manufacturing unit in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh by the year 2021. The company also informed that it would be soon recruiting 3000 employees to operate at the plant.

The company held a framework installation ceremony in Anantapur on Thursday. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, while speaking at the event, said he had “big plans” for the automobile company and wanted to make it world’s largest plant in the world.

On this occasion, Kia president and CEO Han-Woo Park said, “We are here to build more than just great cars. We aim to set a new standard of automotive lifestyle experience by providing Indian consumers world-class products and service, but also deeply engage with the Indian people and give back to the community whenever possible.”

The company’s officials said the Andhra Pradesh government was “very eager to take us in and was offering more incentives than other states in the region” when asked why they chose Andhra Pradesh as their investment destination.

It has also been learned that the company, which is one month ahead of its schedule for the current plant, is expecting the construction process to be completed by the end of the first quarter of the next year before beginning the vehicle production later in 2019.

Kia motors, among its range of other vehicles, will also expectedly launch an India-exclusive compact electric vehicle in the country between 2019 and 2021.
