The New Year has arrived and still the progress of mega IT projects is a far cry in Vizag except the Millennium Tower which will be completed by the end of this year.
Various reasons have been put up for the failure to ground the projects. Say, the iconic tower which was supposed to be grounded at Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone, Duvvada is yet to come up because of the delay in fund releasing from the centre.
Despite the allotment of 17.98 acres nearby Sunrise Incubation Hub on Hill No.3 of Rushikonda and appointment of American consultant Long La Salle, the Signature Tower which was to be built on the lines of Cyber Towers of Hyderabad stayed a non-starter. This project would have been a great start to put Vizag on international IT map.
Another mega project, the skyscraper which was to encourage small and medium IT players and start-ups with first of its kind domain-specific incubation and innovation centre on marine, power and petroleum has been thrashed because of the differences between VUDA and STPI.
