Israeli Weapons Soon To Be Used To Fight Maoists

The security forces that tackle naxal operations in Visakhapatnam will soon get sophisticated and technical arms support from Israel. The forces are going to launch a series of major assaults on the Maoists with the help of these Israeli weapons.

This move will make Andhra Pradesh the first state to take the help of a foreign nation to tackle the naxal menace. The state police department is already strengthened due to the former DG of CRPF and PM’s security chief Kode Durga Prasad was appointed as the advisor for the state home department. He had previously served as Greyhounds’ chief and also worked towards handling the naxals menace in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.

A two-member Israeli team along with the DGP, higher officials in intelligence, state intelligence bureau (SIB), Greyhounds and CRPF have conducted an aerial survey in Visakha agency. The aerial survey was done to give a clear picture of the Andhra-Odisha border to the Israeli experts. The expert team has reportedly understood the terrain and even the problems faced by the security forces.

The foreign team will now have clear suggestions on what changes can be adopted to ambush the naxals and a report is expected from the team. Surveillance and survey teams are the focus now, with the expert team also expected to give suggestions on how to protect themselves from the tactics of the naxals.

It is reportedly the Chief Minister’s initiative that the Israeli team were brought in. A technical team from AP will be visiting Israel soon to learn how to deal with naxals and operation of these weapons. A trial will also be conducted in the next four months for the same. The state government is also asking the police department to focus on the proposed outposts at Maoist areas. Outposts construction will also be started in the next few months.
