Isha Gramotsavam celebrates the spirit of rural Andhra Pradesh through an elaborate display of rural games, music, and food. The event conducts various village games and Yoga Programs to assist in the Smart Villages Initiative of the Andhra Pradesh Government.
As a part of the Isha Gramotsavam, friendly tournaments of several games were flagged off a few weeks ago and have been witnessing a fervent participation by all the villages of the Mandal. While the Volleyball tournament for men got off to a rollicking start in the Gram Panchayats of L.V Palem and Kanumam on the 22nd of October, the Throwball tournament for women started off on a positive note in the Gram Panchayats of Boni Gram, Pandala Paka, and others on the 25th of October. In fact, to ready the participants for these tournaments, training sessions for Volleyball, Throwball, and Yoga have been happening for the past ten months.
The events taking place have been filling the villages with an all-new vibrancy ever since their launch. The games have been facilitating in creating a sense of harmony, responsibility, and commitment among the village residents and have provided them with a platform to work in consonance in order to modify their respective villages.
Various gaming tournaments such as the Throwball and the Volleyball tournaments have been witnessing an exuberant participation by many people. Many volunteers from Visakhapatnam have been visiting the Mandal on a daily basis to do their bit in enhancing the revelry of the events. The players are even being cheered on by the spectators and the volunteers to add on to the festivity.
The games, apart from helping in bettering the health and overall well-being of the village residents, also seem to empower and inspire them to step towards a constructive change. The events have not only been giving many villagers the chance to express themselves but have also been shattering the deep-rooted barriers existing in these villages. Women, especially, have embraced this new found opportunity and have come forward to participate by challenging the prejudices.
Apart from Sadhguru and Rakul Preet Singh, other eminent personalities such as IT minister Nara Lokesh, HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, former captain of Indian Hockey team, Dhanraj Pillay, Olympic medalist, Smt. Karuna Malleswari and others will also be present at the event.
