Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Vizag would soon be getting a makeover as the Andhra Pradesh State Government has sanctioned Rs 1 crore to carry out the required repairs and renovations.
Speaking to The Hindu, Chief Conservator of Forest, Rahul Pandey said, “ As part of the renovation works, the zoo’s main entrance gate will get a face-lift with murals and paintings, apart from 17 pagodas getting renovated. The sit-outs in the zoo will be improved and animal enclosures will be given a fresh coat of red oxide paints.”
Mr Pandey also said that the Vizag zoo would be presented in top shape and visitors would be able to enjoy the enhanced experience.
The fares to visit the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park and charges for all other facilities inside the zoo have been increased recently. The entrance fee for an adult has been increased from Rs 20 to Rs 50. The child (3-12 years) fares have not been changed from the existing Rs 10. Free entry facility is available to differently-abled people and students of tribal welfare schools.
The entry fees for four-wheelers and buses have been hiked from Rs 250 to Rs 500 while the fare for still camera increased from Rs 20 to Rs 30.
The battery operated vehicles, for a duration of 90 minutes, would be charged Rs 50 per adult and Rs 30 for a child.
The revised charges for a 30-minute safari tour is Rs 50 per adult and 30 per child. Parking lot charges have been revised to Rs 2 for a bicycle, Rs 10 for a two-wheeler, Rs 30 for a four-wheeler or an auto-rickshaw and Rs 50 for a minibus or tempo.
