Women’s cricket: Indian team arrives in Vizag

The Indian women cricket team arrived in Visakhapatnam on 6 October night ahead of the match against South Africa on 9 October.

The team was accorded a warm welcome when it arrived in the airport. The players of the Indian women cricket team will practise at the ACA-VDCA stadium in the city for two days.

Visakhapatnam and three other cities are hosting the matches, while Sri Lanka is the co-host of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Tourney. The tournament, which kicked off on 30 September, will continue till 2 November.

Visakhapatnam is hosting five matches out of 31 of which India will play two.

India and South Africa will play on 9 October, followed by the match against Australia on 12 October. The remaining matches in Visakhapatnam will be played between South Africa and Bangladesh (13 October), Australia and Bangladesh (16 October) and England and New Zealand on 26 October.

Meanwhile, tickers are on sale for the Thursday’s match.
