Indian Navy Day celebrations upcoming in December @ Visakhapatnam

December 4th is Indian Navy Day and a long list of celebrations are to take place around Visakhapatnam as part of it. The upcoming events will be held over the next one month.

As a run up to the Navy Day celebrated on 04 December, Indian Navy is holding a string of events aimed at showcasing the ‘Silent Service’ and for raising awareness among citizens. The Eastern Naval Command has scheduled a series of activities and celebrations as part of the Indian Navy Day-17 events. These activities spread out over next one month people of Visakhapatnam can have a closer interaction with the Navy and be a part of it. The list of events is as follows –

1. Medical Camp – The celebrations are starting with an outreach programme and medical Camp organized by INHS Kalayni and INS Dega at Integrated Vikalangula Ashram Pathshala, Atchutapuram on 03 November.
2. A Band Concert –  public performance of Military Music with its team of skilled musician sailors at VUDA Park, Visakhapatnam on Saturday, 04 November 17 from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. The program is aimed at acquainting the music-loving public of Visakhapatnam with the professional capabilities of the personnel of the Naval Band. In a Press Note by the Naval authorities, the invitation extended is as follows – “ All the music lovers in the city are cordially invited to attend the programme and enjoy an “Evening with the Naval Band”.  The Band would performing a wide genre of music including popular patriotic songs in addition to medley of other flavours and popular evergreen of Hindi, Telugu and English to cater to the listening pleasure of all present in the audience and thereby living up to their motto of “Something for Everyone”.
3. Blood donation camps – Being held this month, are three Blood Donation Camps by INS Viswakarama, INS Kalinga and Naval Dockyard on 03 Nov, 16 Nov and 17 Nov respectively.
4. Vizag-Navy Half Marathon on 12 November.
5. Band concert for Children – The band performance is also scheduled at VUDA Children Arena on Tuesday, 14 November specially for children on the occasion of Children’s Day.
6. INS Dega visit for Children – A visit to INS Dega for special children is slated for 17 November. In addition ships visit by school children and organised groups is planned on 26 and 27 November 17. The Navy-Day activities would culminate with the Operational Demonstration scheduled to be held at RK Beach on 04^th December.
