India is taking one step at a time

India successfully tested its first ever space shuttle – Swadeshi – on Monday as its scale model – Re-Usable Launch Vehicle-Technology Demonstrator or RLV-TD. It was launched from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 7AM and landed in a defined spot in the Bay of Bengal after 770 seconds.  So, nearly after 20 minutes of its lift-off, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced, “mission accomplished”.

The entire test mission that cost about Rs 95 crore, took 600 scientists & 6 months to complete it. And the final space shuttle will take about 10-15 years & will be six times bigger than the one launched on Monday. It is said to be named ‘Two Stage To Orbit’.

Presently, India is the only country to have sent a winged craft in space.
