Gearing up to the challenges of making defenses stronger in India, Coast Guard Patrol Vessel ‘Arnvesh’ was commissioned yesterday in Visakhapatnam. The commissioning ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and Inspector General S.P Sharma, Coast Guard Region(East).
The Patrol Vessel is indigenously manufactured, having been built at the Cochin Shipyard. The aim is to make shore patrolling an important defense measure in this region. It comes as a welcome move with a vast shoreline here and commercial and other key industries located on the shoreline. Coast Guard in tandem with Customs and other authorities work against smuggling and dealings of contraband. In addition Coast Guard does much to alleviate the woes of fishermen in the region and comes to our need in the times of distress.
The Patrol Vessel and the Coast Guard make us that much safer with vigilance of maritime safety and security of life and property. Vizag stands with the nation with pride and happiness on this occasion.
