The Indian Institute of Management, Vizag (IIM-V), and the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), Government of India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an academic and research partnership on 29 July 2021. Dr. M Chandrasekhar, the Director of IIM, and Dr. Srinivas the Director-General of NCGG signed the memorandum. The MoU is said to pave the way for collaboration between the two premier institutions for collaborative teaching and training, as well as research on public policy and allied areas.
NCGG is an autonomous institute under the aegis of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Govt. of India. The NCGG was established on 24 February 2014. It was set up to assist in bringing about governance reforms through studies, training, knowledge sharing, and promotion of ideas. The institute seeks to carry out policy-relevant research and prepare case studies; curate training courses for civil servants from India and other developing countries. It also aims to provide a platform for sharing existing knowledge and proactively seeking out developmental ideas.
The signing ceremony was held at the IIM Vizag campus where the partnership between the two institutions was announced. Dr. V Srinivas, who is also the Additional Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Govt. of India, addressed the gathering and highlighted the history of the Indian Civil Services in nation-building. Dr. Chandrasekhar, in his address, focused on the scope of collaboration between the two institutions in areas such as public policy, public finance, ethics, and governance. He also showed keen interest in translating the articles of the MOU into action, on priority. The ceremony also had Amit Chakrobarti and Neena Pandey, from IIM-V, and Poonam Singh, from NCGG, addressing the gathering. The event ended with Dr. Srinivas having a session with the faculty of IIM-V.
