hovercraft
RK Beach is soon going to have some exciting water sports. Adventure sport lovers need no longer to rush down to Rushikonda or Mangamaripeta for the same. The stretch of beach opposite Hawa Mahal and the beach at Thotlakonda will soon have hovercrafts.
With the necessary permissions obtained, work is in full swing for the 6 crore project that The Vizag Hover Club is working on. While initially there were plans to have two hovercrafts at RK Beach, they have downsized to one hovercraft that fits eight people. If the facility picks up, another will soon be added.
Land has already been allotted at RK Beach for the facility and Vizag Hover Club is looking at various manufacturers for the hovercrafts.
They are looking at manufacturers who have a presence in India – Griffon Hoverwork from UK, Airlift from Australia and Russian Hovercraft Corporation are amongst the ones shortlisted. The Mumbai team from Griffon might visit the site to see if their hovercrafts suit the needs.
The site at Thotlakonda is yet to be finalised and the hovercraft facility at RK Beach will be launched in three to six months.
