Green Tea – inside and out!

The antibacterial content in green tea works effectively against acne and pimples. When imbibed on a regular basis, it reduces over stimulation of the skin hormones. Used as a face mask or sipped as an afternoon brew, green tea does wonders to the skin.

It is a common fact that the high content of antioxidants and other nutrients in green tea makes it a very beneficial drink – way healthier than coffee or ordinary tea. The antioxidants found in green tea are also responsible in combating skin cancer by blocking the cancer causing harmful enzyme, junk. It is also responsible for the cell renewal process. The aged keratinocytes cells are biologically energised by the polyphenol compounds in green tea, which in turn, synthesise the DNA and prevent premature aging of the cells. But more than health alone, green tea has many distinct beauty benefits, to the extent that many beauty products contain green tea extracts.

Green tea is extremely effective in safeguarding the skin against sunburn and tanning when applied locally. In fact even old acne marks can be treated – dab on green tea decoction on your face. Do not wash it off, rather let it be absorbed by skin slowly. Following this regime regularly will gradually aid in fading away the marks and prevent acne and sudden break outs as well.

Store used green tea bags in the fridge. Use the chilled bags as a compress over the eyes for a minimum of 20 minutes. The anti-oxidant content of green tea leaves cleanses the eyes and relieves all the tension around the nerves.

Use green tea as a hair conditioner. A great stimulant for hair follicles, green tea promotes growth and nourishes the hair. After washing the hair with shampoo instead of hair conditioner, apply water extracted of green tea for conditioning.
