The government doctors of all medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh have decided to go on a strike from Today. Regarding the same, the doctors have submitted a strike notice to the KGH Superintendent in Vizag.
The strike has been called alleging that some of the policies of the government have been affecting the seniority and promotion status for many years. According to a statement issued by the AP Government Doctors’ Association in Vizag, the doctors will not attend elective surgeries and OP duties. They also mentioned that they will attend surgeries if it’s an emergency case, however.
It has been learned that the seniors are fuming over the new G.O. which gives the mandate to appoint contractors at Rajiv Gandhi Institue of Medical Sciences (RIMS). The seniors claim that the government is neglecting them who are waiting for promotions for years. The strike will be carried out until the new G.O. is revoked.
A government doctor said, “We are not opposing the regularisation of contract doctors, but designating them as ‘associate professors’ and ‘professors’ despite not having put in the required years of service.”
Also, the association has demanded proper implementation of Career Advancement Scheme and time-bound promotions as soon as possible.
