Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated F1H20 powerboat racing championship in Amaravati on Friday. The global sporting event, F1H20 World Championship, made a grand comeback to India after 14 years.
Chandrababu Naidu’s wife, Bhuvaneswari, grandson Devansh, and daughter-in-law Brahmani were present at the championship.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu said that Amaravati would be developed as a hub for water sports. The Chief Minister said that from the next year, the event will be conducted annually in November. Mr Naidu later inaugurated a tourism meet at Bhavani Ghat.
Deputy Chief Minister Chinna Rajappa, Deputy Speaker Mandali Budha Prasad, Ministers Nara Lokesh, Bhuma Akhila Priya, Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao and P. Pullarao, among others, were also present at the event.
Earlier, F1H2O’s director of logistics, Marco Pietrini, while speaking to the media, said that while the event was relatively new to India, the country had a great potential for water sports. He further added that Amaravati was a “perfect” location for conducting the F1 Powerboat racing event.
