e-Urban Primary Health Centres Coming Up In The City

24 e-Urban Primary Health Centres are to come up in GVMC sanctioned limits. Two of them were inaugurated Appughar and Resapavanipalem by Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas. The health centres will function 365 days and have video conferencing facility that offers tele-medicine in various fields.

A successful e-Urban Primary Health Centres project was first taken up in Vijayawada. With funding from both the state and central government, the monthly expenditure of the centres come to Rs 10 crore. The centres would provide 28 diagnostic tests costing Rs 4000 for free. The state government is set on making healthcare cheap through the PPP mode.

212 e-Urban Primary Health Centres will be launched across Andhra Pradesh to cater to the one and half crore people living in urban areas, 50% of whom fall under below poverty line. Through technology they hope to rope in consultants and medical management.

The modern kitchen and paediatrics-thalassemia care centre were also inaugurated at KGH by the Health Minister. MP K Haribabu, KGH Superintendent G Arjun, District Medical and Health Officer J Sarojini and MLAs V Ramakrishna Babu, P Vishnu Kumar Raju and Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar were present.
