While Americans were panicking, and getting ‘end of the world’ and ‘how to emigrate to Canada’ trending in Google – and even crashing the Canada Immigration’s official website, Donald Trump won the US elections with the Republicans winning both the US House and Senate at 234 to 177 and 51 to 47 respectively. Donald won the presidency at 276 to 218 while cheers erupted at his victory party. Donald Trump is the new President of the United States of America.
While Canada has been praised through the years for welcoming refugees and encouraging people to embrace their cultures, Donald’s comments on the same have left US citizens worried. While he has ambitions to ‘Make America Great Again’, he has also thrown out statements like, “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists,” when referencing Mexicans. Not to mention his conservative stance on gun policy, abortion, gay marriage and more.
After early election results pointed towards a victory for Donald Trump – after he won the elections in Florida, Ohio, North Carolina and Pennsylvania – it somehow left the citizens shocked. A US dollar plunge has been foreseen if Donald Trump was to be elected, then again, it was also foreseen that his chances of winning were only 10%.
Nearly all pollsters in the US had Hilary Clinton ahead of Donald Trump, so the win comes as a shock to Americans and not the rest of the world, who have expected this win and panicked in solidarity, way before the Americans started to. Despite reports that Hilary was ready to concede as the election drew to a close, her campaign manager stated otherwise. Donald Trump is holding his victory party at Hilton Midtown hotel.
