Dist. Collector plans to conduct Spandana programme outside Vizag city from now on

To extend the access of the services, and benefits, of the Spandana programme to the people living far away from the District headquarters in Visakhapatnam, District Collector, Dr A Mallikarjuna IAS, has come up with a novel initiative. The District Collector has planned to conduct the Andhra Pradesh Spandana programme outside Vizag city from now onwards.

Speaking to Yo! Vizag, Administrative Officer (AO) of the Visakhapatnam District Collectorate, J.V.S.S Ram Mohana Rao, informed that on Monday, the Spandana programme was being conducted at the Sub-Collector’s office in Narsipatnam. It was planned in Narsipatnam as it happens to be the entrance to the tribal mandals in the district. The Collector

, and other government officers for the district, would be available at the public grievance programme and all the people in the surrounding areas can avail the services.

This initiative by the District Collector, to conduct the Spandana programme outside the district headquarters, is the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh. With this initiative, tribals and others from far off places, needn’t travel all the way to the Vizag city to seek grievance redressal.

Visakhapatnam District Collectors have always been at the forefront in bringing the best results of the Spandana programme. In July 2019, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, had congratulated the then Visakhapatnam Collector, V Vinay Chand IAS, for the district’s achievement of standing first in the state at resolving grievances received during the programme.

It could be noted that this weekly-grievance programme had resumed from 26 July, 2021 in the district. The programme had earlier been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
