The centre has shortlisted 11 villages in Araku for development; keeping in mind the growing economic, social and physical needs of those in rural areas. The villages have been shortlisted under the National Rural Urban Mission.
District Collector Pravin Kumar recently held a meeting with the district officials. A baseline survey will be conducted in the villages to find out the amenities in place. The survey checks on the basic amenities and the fund amount needed before even chalking out the plan to execute the project.
The Collector has instructed officials in the meeting to complete the development works in three years span. The cost incurred for the development stands at Rs 100 crore. During the survey, focus should be put on anganwadis, CC roads, drainage, toilets, drinking water, streetlights, panchayat centres, digital libraries, school buildings, dumping yards and graveyards.
70% fund will be allocated by several departments for the completion of the project and a CGF fund will be utilised for the remaining cost. Some of the works will also be taken up with the use of NREGS funds. He directed officials to prepare a report on the detailed cost breakdown on funds coming in from various departments, the kind of work to be taken up and the budget for each facility.
