Vizag bound train catches fire in Madhya Pradesh

Two coaches of the Delhi-Vizag AP Super-fast express train caught fire near Gwalior district in Madhya Pradesh on Monday afternoon. Close to 130 passengers, including 40 deputy collectors, escaped uninjured in the mishap. The fire on the two coaches- B6 and B7- was later put out as informed by a police official.

Reportedly, the two coaches of train, which was headed to Vizag, encountered a short circuit which made them catch fire near the Birlanagar railway station.

Ved Prakash, director, publicity, Railway Board, was quoted as saying, “Six coaches were segregated and sent to Gwalior. All passengers in the affected coaches were evacuated. No injuries have been reported so far.”

The fire was initiated in the B6 coach around 11.45 am and later spread to the adjacent coach of B7. Since the train was on halt, the passengers got out of it quickly before fire brigade services doused the fire.

The passengers have reported a huge loss of cash and other valuables. The collectors on board, we returning from a training camp, it has been reported.
