It’s been more than seven years since Cyclone Hudhud brought Visakhapatnam to its knees. The city has since recovered fairly from those ruins and become one of the flourishing cities in South India. Its economy has grown multifold, be it through the ever-growing tourism or through the many major industries in and around the city. But despite all that, certain scars from that horrifying event are still in our minds.
As we mark seven years since Cyclone Hudhud this week, we should take a minute to remember those we lost due to the cyclone, the many who stood up in those difficult times and helped raise Visakhapatnam back to glory. Only because of the citizens’ hard work, the city was able to recover so quickly from the cyclone.
Here we are, looking at all the ruins that Cyclone Hudhud left behind in Visakhapatnam.
Let us not forget what Mother Nature taught us with Cyclone Gulab. Let us be more respectful to our environment, stand together as a community, prepared for any calamity that shall strike us.
