
Following a directive by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, distribution of essential commodities was taken up in the cyclone-hit areas in Visakhapatnam on 29 October.
The Chief Minister himself visited a village in Konaseema and handed over essential commodities to the families at a rehabilitation centre. Earlier, he conducted an aerial survey of the rain-hit areas.
The government also announced a financial aid of Rs. 1000 each to those who took shelter in rehabilitation centres.
In the Bheemunipatnam constituency, MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao visited Pedanagamayyapalem village and distributed essential commodities to 32 families who were shifted to a cyclone shelter.
Similarly, other MLAs and officials took up the task in rain-hit areas in the district.
The Chief Minister, in a teleconference, explained to the officials the measures to be taken up in the affected areas.
The loss was minimised because of the preventive measures taken by the government, said the Chief Minister.
Describing it as teamwork, the Chief Minister lauded the staff for their commendable job. The cyclone claimed two lives in the state, he added.
