International cricketers and their love for Visakhapatnam

We all know how mesmerising Visakhapatnam can be with its arresting beauty. The verdant hills, the deep blue waters, the golden sands and the spotless beach road located amidst this divine setting have all been super impressive over the years. What’s more? Well, most of the tourists, who lodge at the chic hotels at the beach road find it irresistible to post pics of such heartening scenes on their social media accounts. And our beloved cricketers are no different either.

Visiting Visakhapatnam on multiple occasion to either play an international cricket match or participate in an IPL encounter, numerous cricketers find a special chord with the city’s beauty.

Here’s what a few of them had to say in admiration of Visakhapatnam’s beauty.

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni shares a special bond with Visakhapatnam. Back in 2005, it was in the city that the superstar had announced himself with a blistering 148 against Pakistan. In the past, sharing his love for the city, Dhoni had tweeted, ” Vizag, one of the cities, that I would love to live in, nice and beautiful landscape with beach and home to my first big innings.” The legendary cricketer is also expected to soon establish his cricket academy in Visakhapatnam.

Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was another renowned cricket who fell for the city. About two years ago, the “turbanator”, as he’s popularly known, was in Visakhapatnam for an IPL match. Relishing the view of the beach road from his hotel room, Harbhajan wrote, “Vizag or Durban? It’s Vizag guys….stunning view from my room (sic).”

Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina too had expressed their appreciation of Vizag’s beauty by sharing a few pics on their respective social media handles.

Recently, India vs West Indies ODI in Visakhapatnam too witnessed a few cricketers share their memories with the city. While former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif called the city as his home away from home, the Indian captain, Virat Kohli shared, “What a stunning place, love coming to Vizag.”

The love for Visakhapatnam isn’t just restricted to the Indian players. West Indies all-rounder, Carlos Brathwaite, who was in Vizag representing Delhi Daredevils in 2016, posted a beautiful scene at the RK beach and asked if Vizag was the Carribean of India.
