Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday inked an MoU with New York-based blockchain major ConsenSys as a step towards promoting the disruptive technology in the state. The partnership will aim at fostering a blockchain-centric ecosystem.
The technologies will be utilized in the areas of land titling, supply chain, identity platform, electronic health records, and others, it has been informed.
“The ConsenSys Academy is a blockchain education platform with the mission of bridging the deep ethereum knowledge gap and revolutionising education through blockchain technology. Traditional education programs cannot keep up with the rapidly developing pace of Ethereum and blockchain as a whole. There’s a need to continue educating new participants in the blockchain ecosystem,” Kavita Gupta, executive director of ConsenSys was quoted as saying.
It has also been learned that the state and ConsenSys will work together to set up the first Indian cohort of ConsenSys Education. The institute will be aimed at developing blockchain-centric education programmes.
Vizag is fast emerging as a major hub for Blockchain technology. The city’s prestigious Fintech valley is attracting whopping investments in the disruptive field from across the globe. An initiative that was flagged off with an intention of transforming Vizag into a world-class technological hub has, so far, managed to draw in investments worth about $900 million and create about 5500 jobs, reported Forbes. The report has also said that Andhra Pradesh has become the first state in India to adopt blockchain in governance. The state is also leading the way in the country with the pioneering use of blockchain in the fields of management of records, vehicular registrations, and others, with the fields of transport, finance and digital security set to be revolutionized in the coming days.
