Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Vice President Nadendla Manohar has accused that the Partnership Summit held by the state government in the city in January has been a sham. The state government announced that MoUs worth Rs 4.78 lakh crore were signed at the Partnership Summit and promised that the investments will generate employment to 10 lakh people.
Nadendla Manohar used the RTI Act to declare that the state government spent Rs 28 crore on a summit that reportedly saw over 2000 delegates from 47 countries. He alleged that the state has wasted crores of rupees over the summit that has not turned up any investments in the 10 months since then.
He also pointed out that the state government was giving out about the number of delegates in attendance. While they claimed there to be 2000 delegates, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu claimed only 600 delegates were in attendance. Reportedly, the state government spent Rs 1 crore alone on a dance programme during the Partnership Summit.
Nadlendla Manohar demanded at a press conference that the government declare how many investments have trickled in and how many jobs it has generated. He said that instead of passing GO to release funds, the government issued Memorandums to avoid showing accounts.
