The price of a commercial gas cylinder has increased by Rs 195.50 by the oil companies, adding to the woes of hoteliers. Now, the cost of a commercial gas cylinder (19 kg) goes up to Rs 2139.50 in Visakhapatnam. However, there is no change in the price of a domestic gas cylinder.
The oil companies cited the global crisis in the wake of the war in West Asia as the reason for increasing the commercial gas rate.
This is the second price hike in the last two months. Earlier, the price of each commercial cylinder was increased by Rs 114.50 on March 1.
Meanwhile, LPG cylinders, both commercial and domestic, are being sold at exorbitant rates ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, cashing in on the situation.
