As the Class X Board examinations are approaching, the State Education Department is facing an issue as the number of government schools, used as exam centres in Visakhapatnam are minimal.
Due to this shortage, the Government has decided to include the privately run schools in conducting the board exams.
Thirty-nine private exam centres have been arranged by government officials as the public schools are lacking proper infrastructure, especially in urban areas. Out of all these centres, throughout the district, thirty-six centres are situated in the urban areas, whereas the rest three are in the rural parts of Visakhapatnam district.
The majority of the students appearing for these exams are from the Visakhapatnam city limits, where there are hardly any government schools. The required number of exam centres is around 110 and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has only about 27 schools. Therefore, the district education officials are in a hitch to find the government schools to conduct the Class X examinations.
Reportedly, the school education officials suspect that private schools may misuse the exam patterns by giving 100 per cent internal marks to the students. Thus, leading to an increase in the number of students getting 10 GPA in exams.
