The City of Destiny – Vizag being known as the “Jewel of East Coast” for its beautiful and tranquil scenery has received a big boost to “Brand Vizag” after the completion of the recent CII Partnership Summit in which many MoUs have been signed up with the investors. The AP tourism has not only taken the tourism buzz to a new level but also is promoting “Brand Vizag” now, with many new initiatives and plans for the city.
This is being planned, keeping in mind the upcoming and much awaited, Visakha Utsav which is going to held from February 3rd to 5th. Mr. Himanshu Shukla, Director of AP tourism has designed a new logo which has been showcased at the summit. The entire idea of this is to promote each and every part of the city making it reveal its own beauty and identity. A new team will soon be recruited in order to facilitate the department of administration and allocation of funds. A new set of youngsters under the Regional Tourist Information Bureau will be taken to conceptualize and implement bi-monthly cultural festivals in the city.
As a part of branding strategy of the city, 3,000 college students will be participating in the walkathon from YMCA to Kali Temple – Vizag on the 3rd of February before the inaugural function of the Utsav, wearing t-shirts printed with the new logo. The supporting youngsters will make a formation depicting the words “Vizag” in front of the Kali Temple.
In addition to this, the tourism department is planning to host many themed cultural events like Rangoli festival, Tomato Festival, Kite Festival every month from this summer onwards. The cultural events will be taking place at Kailashgiri and the western festivals at the beach road.
