We preciously wrote how chopper rides will soon be introduced in Visakhapatnam. The much awaited chopper rides as a part of the heli-tourism project will most probably be delayed as the project still awaits approval from many departments.
Even though it was initially announced that the project would be launched on October 11, 2016, on Dussehra. The delay in the project will surely be a disappointment to the tourists coming into Vizag this winter. VUDA signed a MoU with Sky Choppers Logistics Private Limited for the first heli-tourism project in Andhra Pradesh.
Plans were made for long-distance trips to Araku and Annavaram and shorter ones to Bheemli that would cover RK Beach, Simhachalam, Kambalakonda, Kailasagiri, Rushikonda, Ramanaidu Studios and Erramatti Dibbalu. Authorities have set up a helipad and rooms for ticket counters at VUDA Park for the same.
Initially, VUDA blamed the turbulent weather for the delay. They are yet to obtain permissions for the helipad, even from the Eastern Naval Command. Reportedly, they also have plans for another helicopter service as the previous agency had issues. But tourism officials deny these and cite permissions as the only reason for the delay. However, the tourism and VUDA departments remain optimistic that they will launch the project by Sankranti.
