To establish a Gaming Design University in Vizag, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board ( APEDB). During a meeting with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the officials mentioned their views of turning the city into a gaming digital learning hub.
UNESCO officials have asked the CM to allot a 100-acre land in Vizag for framing the city as an International Gaming and Digital Learning Hub.
“As many popular IT firms are eyeing over the city to establish their firms, the gaming technology would be an important source to pull a good amount of income in the future”, the UNESCO officials said.
The officials also mentioned that they would develop an edutech gaming in the state, targeting 50,000 jobs in the coming 10 years.
Chandrababu Naidu suggested the officials develop the state as a knowledge economy-innovation valley.
“Gaming technology should be expanded so that it can be used in all fields. Attempts for skill development should be made through gaming technology. Academic Standards be designed and propagated as ‘Vizag Declaration'”, the CM said.
An incubation centre, global research centre, global certification bureau in digital education, gaming teacher training academy and a gaming-digital skill development academy would be constituted in the hub.
