Horrific bus accident in Telangana claims more than 40 lives

What comes in as a shocking news is the death of at least 40 passengers due to a bus accident at Jagtial district in Telangana on Tuesday.

According to the reports, in a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus, around 50 people were travelling when it fell into a valley off the road near Shanivarapet village. The incident took place when the bus was returning from Anjaneya Swamy temple.

An investigation revealed that the bus was boarded by the people more than its capacity. It was travelling with 64 people when it only has the capacity to accommodate 54.

In utter dismay, the caretaker Chief Minister of Telangana,  K Chandrashekar Rao has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 Lakh to every family of the deceased.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi mentioned his grief on his Twitter handle quoting, ” The bus accident in Telangana’s Jagtial district is shocking beyond words. Anguished by the loss of lives. My thoughts and solidarity with the bereaved families. I pray that the injured recover quickly.”
