Narendra Modi
A few days after the loss in Karnataka, it has been learned that the BJP has started to focus on the election campaigns in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha. As a part of their campaign in Andhra Pradesh, the party began a “Twitter trend” which said “Narendra Modi for Andhra Development.”
The trend began after the Narendra Modi-led government sanctioned a central university for AP and approved the provision of funds of Rs 450 crore.
“A provision of funds worth Rs. 450 crore has been approved for meeting the first phase expenditure towards establishment of the #Modi4AndhraDevelopment (sic),” tweeted K Hari Babu of Visakhapatnam.
“People of Andhra Pradesh should not believe in the propaganda spread by local political parties. @narendramodi govt in the centre is committed to the development of the state. #Modi4AndhraDevelopment (sic),” read another tweet by the official Twitter handle of BJP Andhra Pradesh.
Highlighting the centre’s sanctioning of the central university to the state, a couple of other members of the BJP too used #Modi4AndhraDevelopment to tweet their opinions.
While a tweet from an official page read, “Modi government stands by the people of Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approves setting up of a Central University in Andhra Pradesh. #Modi4AndhraDevelopment (sic),” Defence Minister of India, N Sitharaman tweeted, “The Union Cabinet chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi approved proposal for the new ‘Central University of Andhra Pradesh’. The provision for funds worth Rs. 450 crore has been also approved. (sic).”
The Twitterati opined in different ways to the tweets. While a few supported the NaMo government, a few others trolled the officials for the hashtag.
“BJP has nice comic sense, you should go for some street comedy plays. What, giving a statement that one university is approved after 4 years? Let alone approving itself? (sic),” wrote one user.
