The city of Visakhapatnam seems to be all geared for the arrival of Mr. Bill Gates. The co-founder of Microsoft will be visiting the city today to participate in the valedictory ceremony of Agri-Hackathon. The event, which was flagged off on Wednesday, has been receiving quite a good response from the enthusiasts. Many innovative and feasible solutions have been proposed by the participants in order to imbibe newer technologies into the farming methods which would ultimately result in greater productivity to the farmers.
Mr. Bill Gates will be in Visakhapatnam for a brief period of 2 hours. He will be landing in the city’s airport around 2.30 pm by a chartered flight. Subsequently, Mr. Gates will directly reach the APIIC grounds to join Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, to participate in the valedictory ceremony of Agri-Hackathon and will be addressing the gathering at the event. Mr. Bill Gates will also release funds to the state government through his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to help the state’s farmers combat poverty and other shortcomings.
To ensure a secure environment for the eminent chief guest, the city has been equipped with a security force consisting of nearly 2500 personnel.
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), is a private foundation funded by Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates. It was launched in 2000 and is said to be the largest transparently operated private foundation in the world. The Foundation works with primary objectives of, globally, enhancing healthcare and reducing the poverty. They also strive to expand the educational opportunities in America and provide easier access to information technology. Apart from Bill and Melinda, BMGF also has Warren Buffett as one of its trustees. The headquarters of the Foundation is in Seattle, Washington.
