5 Health Benefits Of Living In A Beach Town Like Vizag

Living close to the ocean has for long been desired by a lot of people. Walking on the sea shore, taking a dip in the sea and relaxing on the beach, are one of the few reasons that attracts people towards a beach town. But did you know living by the sea could also benefit your health?

The notion that being near a beach making one feel healthy is not new, of course. Doctors were prescribing trips to the shore or visits to “bathing hospitals” — special clinics that offered seawater bath treatments — as early as the 18th century. But only recently have scientists begun studying the ocean’s health benefits experimentally. And this is what they found:

Breathing the Sea Breeze

Did you know that fresh sea air is good for you? Well now you do, so go ahead and take deeper breaths when you’re at the beach. The salty sea air by the coast does wonders for the respiratory system and those with asthma, bronchitis, sinus pressure, and coughing will notice a difference in their condition after just one day at the beach. Ocean air also contains negatively charged hydrogen ions that help absorb oxygen and balance out serotonin levels, resulting in more energy and diminished depression.

Get Extra Vitamin D

The abundant supply of sunlight at the beach with rays reflecting off the sand and the ocean is the best way to get the extra dose of vitamin D that helps improve autoimmune protection, increases endorphin, lowers the risk of cancer, and enhances bone health.

Swimming in the salt water

If you ever visit a beach, always go prepared for a swim. Cause apart from being fun, swimming in the ocean helps enhance the immune system, hydrates skin, and boosts circulation. Seawater that is rich in magnesium has also been shown to relax muscles and helps induce sleep.

The “Om” Factor

The feeling of relaxation that overcomes our body when we dig our toes in the sand? It’s not in your head. The ocean has been proven to inspire creative thinking, reduce anxiety, and promote compassionate thinking, Dr. Wallace J. Nichols suggests.

Keeps you Fit/Active

With long shorelines inviting you every morning – you are sure to get attracted towards the habit of stepping out for a walk or a run ultimately leading to a healthier lifestyle.

So here are a few good reasons for you to move to a beach town, or not move out of it !!!
