Australian national sentenced to 3 years jail for sexually abusing orphans in Vizag

Paul Henry Dean, a.k.a Allan Rose, an Australian national, has been sentenced to three years in jail by the Vizag Railway Court. Paul, after a 17-year-long trail, was convicted by the court of sexually abusing orphans from the district of Visakhapatnam and several parts of Odisha. The 75-year-old foreign national is now trying to appeal before the Andhra Pradesh High Court against the conviction, it has been reported

.

In addition to sentencing Paul to jail under Sections 377 (Unnatural acts), 292 (2) (A) of the IPC and Section 12 of the Passport Act, 1967, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, the court has also slammed him with a fine of Rs 32,000.

It has been learned that the Convict posed himself as a priest and doctor and committed a series of sexual offences against orphans who fell prey to him. After being arrested in 2001 in Vizag, the man fled to Odisha on a bail and committed similar crimes against the orphans there.

It has been learned that the Australian national sought minimum punishment after he pleaded guilty. “Paul Dean allegedly harassed sexually many orphans, but we have evidence in 11 cases and the court convicted him based on those. There is a possibility of the addition of a few more sections if more pieces of evidence are added,” Kakinada DSP PVRSSSM Ravi Varma told The New Indian Express.
